Today is not about the war, it's about those that have served their country.
It's not about whether or not I support war, or the ideals pushing the war forward.
It's not about our President; past, future, or present and my personal opinions.
It is simply a day to honor those who deserve honor. It is a day to support our troops for the job that they do.
The decision to join any branch of the military is voluntary & no one signs up with the plan to die for their country.
It's an honor.
In less that 30 minutes in to watching "Taking Chance," I have learned more about the process of honoring the deceased, and I really think people should watch it. We watch constantly the process of war, but the details are always left out about what happens after a soldier dies.
I'm not morbid, but there are men & women out there preparing these bodies for funerals and they say it's THEIR honor to serve those that have fallen by preparing them for their final ride home. I'll leave out the details, for those who are more sensitive than others.
An honor for me, would be to take my nursing degree and care for our soldiers. Bethesda, Walter Reed.. easy? No, but it would be a honor for me.
All I am asking is that you remember what today is really about. My heart goes out to those that currently serve, those that have lost family members, and those that have given their life for my own personal freedoms.
God Bless American and all those who serve!
Shame on me
