New Job

Two weeks ago, I started a new job as a RN Supervisor at the State Veteran's Home in Huntsville. It wasn't the job I had planned for me, but it's the job that God must of had planned for me because 90 applications and 9 interviews later, it was the one that made me an offer. I'm adjusting to the environment, finding peace in the situation. It's not the hands on nursing that my heart desires, but hopefully, it's the nursing experience that the hospitals seem to think a new grad is lacking. Craig graduated from Athens State on May 4th with his Bachelor's and I couldn't be more proud of him for finishing his degree when the road seemed long and endless. I'll leave those who have hubby's that smoke with a link to gurkha cigars.

My Easter Weekend

Another Easter weekend in the books. Back to work tomorrow. Yesterday, we ate the The Old Cookstove in Danville and oh my, if you've never been, you really should go. It's run by the Mennonites and it's open on Friday and Saturday. They have an all you can eat buffet with more food & desserts that should be allowed in one building. It was heavenly. We will definitely be going back. I also got a new pink fishing pole so that Craig and I can spend some time together while I attempt to fish "princess style." We didn't get to go yesterday because of the rain. I may have to see if I can convince Craig to buy me one of the jackets I found here www.rockymountaintrail.com columbia rain jackets. Sounds like a plan to me.

Best Movie Ever

Why is it, that still years after Blu-Ray came to life, that the best movie ever is still not available????

I think I would be just over the moon if they would release "Major Payne" on Blu-Ray. I absolutely love, love, LOVE that movie. I think it's one of our absolute favorites. As a matter of fact, it's on right now.

Classic lines, classic lines.

Blogging my life away

As annoying as blogging on this blog can be, it brings in some extra cash to stash back for things I need without coming out of our regular budget. So expect the influx of blog posts to start up again so I can pad the extra account. We've shifted a lot of stuff to our new family blog. One of friends is preparing to become an aunt again and her brother is a drummer. Tends to run in the family because she played drums in high school. She's found a lot of cute drum related items for the baby and I'm sure if she could find baby size drum practice pads she would get them. She's already found tiny drum sticks. Guess they are planning on keeping up the family tradition.

Recipes

If you ever want to try some good recipes, my go to sites are The Pioneer Woman and Southern Plate. They always have good stuff and so far, everything I have made from either site has been added to the dinner rotation. I promise that neither site will let you down and I love the fact that they have pictures as you cook so you know what your dish is supposed to look like while its "in process."

Hurry Up Spring!

With winter temperatures hanging around longer than the famous groudhog predicted, it's no wonder that I am longing for a trip to the beach. Pictures of white sands and rolling waves from lucky friends on a beach filled Spring Break are making me jealous!!
We try to get to the beach every year, usually around August. The weather is still warm, but not so much that you turn into fried shrimp the moment your feet hit the sand. It's perfect for lounging in the surf all day long!
I try to make our yearly vacation as finanically responsible as I can every year. The cheaper I can get the cost of the condo, the more we can spend on eating out and other beach adventures. It usually means I have to do a little work into try to come up with the best vacation deals. I try to take advantage of deals like so many nights free, that's my favorite. But it also helps if you know when the lower price deals start. My favorite condo has "early fall" and then "fall" rates that usually kick in in August and that's what I wait for if I can. I usually book in January, but this year, I haven't made any plans yet because it's taking me a bit longer than expected to find a nursing job. I'm sure at this point, my favorite condo is spoken for, but I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, I can still make it to the beach this year. We've thought about going to Panama City Beach instead of Orange Beach this year, just for a change of scenery, something new. But at the same time, we are creatures of habit and we know what we like.

I'm just ready for rolling waves, white sandy beaches, and the wind in my hair. It's where I find my peace and Lord knows I could use an extra dose right now.
